Do I need to register a company before applying for BOI promotion?
No. If a company has not yet been incorporated, the application can be submitted in the name of an individual.
What are the steps in the BOI application process?
The process generally consists of the following steps:
- Submit the BOI application form together with supporting documents.
- BOI officers review the application and may request revisions or additional information.
- Attend a project presentation and interview with BOI officers.
- BOI evaluates the project and prepares a report for approval.
- Receive the BOI approval decision.
- Accept the approval and submit documents required for issuance of the BOI Promotion Certificate.

How do I submit a BOI application?
Applications are submitted through the BOI’s e-Investment system for General Promotion Measures and SME Promotion Measures. Certain other measures still require paper-based submission at the BOI office.
How long does BOI take to review an application before formally accepting it?
BOI typically reviews the application and supporting documents within 1–2 business days. If revisions are required, the application must be corrected and resubmitted. In practice, formal acceptance usually takes 1–2 weeks, although complex cases may take longer.
What happens after the application is formally accepted?
BOI will normally schedule a project presentation and interview within 10 business days.
What is the BOI project presentation?
The project presentation (BOI interview) is a meeting with BOI officers to present the project details, the applicant’s background, and the company’s structure. It typically takes 1–2 hours.
How long does BOI take to approve a project?
According to BOI service standards, approval generally takes 40–90 business days (approximately 2–5 months) after the application is accepted. However, actual processing times may vary depending on project complexity, document quality, and BOI workload.
What should I do after receiving the BOI approval letter?
Review the BOI approval letter carefully. If you accept the approval, you must confirm acceptance within 1 month (extendable up to 3 times, 1 month each). You must then apply for the BOI Promotion Certificate within 6 months.
Applicants have 6 months to submit the required documents for the BOI Promotion Certificate. What if the deadline cannot be met?
The deadline may be extended up to three times, with each extension granted for four months.
How many types of BOI application forms are there?
There are three main application forms:
- Manufacturing Activities
- Service Activities
- Digital Technology Activities

What information is required in a BOI application?
A BOI application generally includes:

When should I start the BOI application process?
BOI applications should be submitted before purchasing or importing machinery and equipment, or hiring employees for positions related to the promoted project.
Is there a BOI application fee?
No. BOI does not charge any fees for submitting an application or obtaining a BOI Promotion Certificate.
If my BOI application is rejected, can I apply again?
Yes. The project can be revised and resubmitted, or a new project can be submitted separately.
How many BOI projects can one company apply for?
There is no limit. BOI promotion is granted on a project basis rather than a company basis. A company may apply for multiple BOI-promoted projects, provided that each project represents a new investment.
